Just outside of the center of town in Canoa, heading down the road towards Sector “El Recreo,” just past the river on the right-hand side (the beach!) is the Sundown Inn and Canoa Spanish School.

Hotel Fun Lun in Manta

Hotel Lun Fun Manta may have a bit of a strange name, but for a night in Manta, it is a great place to stay. Rooms average about $65 dollars a night, they are comfortable, and the service is great. A number of rooms have views of the ocean, and the hotel is centrally located in Manta.

The restaurant at Hotel Lun Fun is considered to be one of the best in Manta, serving a variety of local fairs, my personal favorite being the ceviche.

One hour drive west of Cuenca you will find El Cajas National Park, known for its biodiversity, famous for its 200 plus lagunas. Comprised of 70,000 acres of diverse terrain, El Cajas is the best place in the region to get lost in nature.
